Celebrating Creativity

Temperatures are cooling off and it is starting to feel like fall.  We wanted to take a moment to brag about our community.  We wrapped up a hugely successful summer with reaching our Community Reading Goal of 5000 books!  We loved seeing patrons of all ages get excited about this and we can’t wait for next year’s challenge.

We decided to embrace this year’s theme of “Color Your World”  by inviting community members to share the artform they love.  We were blown away by the response, enthusiasm, and talent of Cameron.  We hosted a dance party, author workshops, woodworking, photography, sewing, cooking workshops and more.  Over the course of the summer, over 1000 participants were engaged in creating at the library!

We would also like to thank the Cameron School District for partnering with us to bring What If Puppet Theatre to the Cameron High School Performing Arts Center.  Over 400 summer school students and nearly 100 community members were able to experience puppetry at its finest.

We are always looking for more ways to encourage making and creative expression and we love that this community embraces the arts.  On October 4th we are hosting our second Craft Supply Swap.  This is a great opportunity to clear out supplies that you no longer use and bring them for others to enjoy.  You may even find a new hobby to try out!
